The Half Moon is under threat. Exposed by a lack of listed status or protection from residential development. Its immediate future is unknown. Consecutive tenants have struggled. And Adnams have now sold the property to Clearfast Ltd as per the listing with Savills. 

Friends of The Half Moon (FOTHM) are seeking to secure Asset of Community Value (ACV) status. Providing a degree of protection from rapid redevelopment. As well as the potential for the community to purchase The Half Moon - depending on how this progresses.

The raft of community groups, clubs and events which have called The Half Moon home over the decades demonstrates the social well being it provides generations of Felixstowe residents.

Concerns for The Moon have already been shared and echoed by the ward's councillors. While additional support has been forthcoming from CAMRA on how we can construct an action plan to further protect the pub for all.

With Adnams' current financial struggles. This is the time to act. Now they have unburdened themselves from The Half Moon, despite being one of Suffolk's brewing icons, they may have set in motion the demise of one of Felixstowe's only community pubs.

Felixstowe is in the midst of an immense campaign of residential building. Yet the social infrastructure for communities to flourish continue to be reneged upon or allowed to fail. The pub and its land is of strong appeal to developers. We will never get The Half Moon back if building is allowed.
