Save the German Program at Chandler Unified School District

Save the German Program at Chandler Unified School District
The Issue
**** Update *****
Thank you for signing the petition. I appreciate your patience as I share this update. CUSD has announced the new schedule for this school year. Continuing students will have the chance to take German classes but unfortunately, it will not be available for new incoming students. Thank you for your understanding and support on this matter.
———————————————————————————————————-
For years, the Chandler Unified School District has provided students with the opportunity to learn German, an experience that has been invaluable to many, including my children. One of my kids is currently thriving in their German classes, finding joy in the language and the culture it introduces. This program has opened a world of knowledge and new perspectives. My other child, witnessing this passion, has also expressed a keen interest in studying German. Unfortunately, we are now faced with the distressing news that the German program might be discontinued.
German in particular, is not only the most widely spoken language in Europe but also a critical language for scientific, economic, and political realms. Removing this program will not only affect the current students but also those who look forward to these enriching language classes. It is crucial for Chandler Unified School District to recognize the long-term benefits that come from maintaining such programs.
We urge the Chandler Unified School District to reconsider the decision to discontinue the German program. Instead, let's explore alternatives like community partnerships, increased promotional activities for enrollment, or even blending modern technologies to keep the language alive in schools.
By signing this petition, you are advocating for maintaining a diverse and comprehensive educational curriculum in Chandler. Let us come together to keep the door to German language and culture open for our children and future generations.
