The city of New Westminster unanimously approves the front street Redevelopment. Frontside DIY skatepark is located in this area. It has been fully supported by the BC and New Westminster skate communities. New West is the biggest city in BC without a  Skatepark that has a covered spot where skaters can enjoy their sport safely. The front street diy has been extremely beneficial not only for for the skate community to have a free and no-hassle place for kids and adults to skateboard, but also to the business at front street Since the usually sketch area its now being used and not completely deserted, there has been multiple times where overdoses happened and skateboarders were the only ones around who could provide help. Over the past months the DIY has grown to be a great place for skateboarders of every race and background. We all come together as one for skateboarding, from the local shops, to even bigger companies and professional skateboarders showing up to skate it.

What we want is for New West City Development to include the DIY in their plans for the renovation of front street. We want to maintain the park, but we need dumpsters to handle trash, and permission for the city for the area which is currently unused save for fights, overdoses and prostitution to be a designated skate area.

Young kids  are growing and mastering their craft at The frontside DIY. It's an Amazing thing when people come together and make something great for everyone to enjoy. Estimates is that between the skateboarding scene over $1000 worth of concrete, steel, and sweat equity has been put into the skate spot...and we want to see it remain a part of New Westminster and The community overall.
