Save the Episode Forums!

The Issue

UPDATE: The deadline has been extended to the end of August, but there is still no intention of archiving the forums.  Keep signing and sharing!

On June 28th, 2024, the Episode forums website is scheduled to shut down.  This site is home to many resources vital to those who wish to write stories on the platform Episode: Choose Your Story.

The website will not be open to be viewed after this date, cutting off many people who hope to create, as well as cutting off connections that have been built through the forums over the years.  Instead, forums members are encouraged to use the "Episode Forums" Discord server, which has given many users problems, not just due to the change in formatting, but due to problems with the app itself not being compatible with the original Episode forums.

The Episode Forums are also a key platform for members of the Episode community to express their grievances with the app and website.  By shutting down the forums and deleting all of the posts made there, Episode Interactive is restricting the community's ability to speak freely.

Some would argue that people on the forums website should simply upload all of the assets on the site onto saved files or Google documents.  While this is good in theory, part of what made the forums so good for the Episode community was that the forums (unlike a Discord server or a Google document) could be found through a Google search, making them accessible to anyone with internet.  In keeping the forums alive, the important information regarding coding stories and making artwork will be limited only to those who access the Discord server or other less user-friendly sources.

Please help show your support to keep this community alive by signing this petition.  Even if the forums is no longer open to post on, members of the Episode community (which has been around for ten years now) should be able to access the vital information on the forums.

Please leave comments as well- while the forums might close (hiding any of your grievances) this site is alive and well.  Make your voice heard!

We, the undersigned, demand that the Episode forums remain open at least for viewing purposes, and that the contest announcements and art updates continue to be posted on the forums by the moderators.
