Dual Language Update:

Congratulations to all of you for almost fully saving the Dual Language Program for the 2024/25 school year.

As previously noted, the school district decided to keep the "first grade" in all four early elementary schools. And, Phillips Ave school even gets to add a new Kindergarten. That is thanks to you and your signature!

Now, there is interesting news...new surplus funds were recently announced. Maybe it is time to fund a new class in all the schools? Please contact the district with your thoughts.

Also, there is a new petition I hope you will sign on a different topic -- a long term and foundational way to heal our district.

Our district currently has an Interim Superintendent, since October 2023. The district extended that interim contract until June 2024.

We should immediately begin a comprehensive, community inspired, search for the next Superintendent. Let's be sure that the school board is thinking far ahead, and also getting parent, student, and stakeholder input, for the search for a new Superintendent of Schools. Having a strong leader, who cherishes the cultures of our district, and has a vision for the future, will put Riverhead Schools back on a good track.

Our petition gives concrete ideas and a few basic demands about the upcoming search for a Superintendent of Schools for Riverhead Central School District!
