I was very pleased to hear from Major Roads Victoria very proudly saying they had heard the community and have devised 2 routes to "Save the Doreen Red Gums”. Community consultation has started if you go to the link below you will see the 3 options. Option B & C protects the 400 & 500 year old gums and the Old Doreen Post Office. This will give space around the gums and post office for a beautiful park and further plantings. It is intention of the property owners to provide this part of their property for park lands.
Personally I prefer Option C but we are still to clarify the distance the road is from the gums trunk & roots. The link is very comprehensive.
