Save The Donkey Sanctuary Leeds!

The Issue

The Donkey Sanctuary (Sidmouth HQ) is proposing to close the Leeds Donkey Sanctuary, which will be a huge loss to the community.

The Donkey Sanctuary Leeds, (founded in 1999 by Dr Elizabeth Svendsen) is home to 23 rescue donkeys, many of whom have had a difficult start in life.

The staff and volunteers provide unconditional love and the best of care to these incredibly lovable and intelligent animals. At the Leeds centre, they provide Donkey Assisted Activities for vulnerable adults and children who are struggling with the challenges that life can bring, i.e, anxiety, depression, additional learning needs and functional life skills. They work with many mental health organisations in the local community. The donkeys give so much back to the community by helping and supporting vulnerable people.

After visiting and experiencing the services first hand, the donkeys have a gold standard of care and engage freely with visitors. Alongside the wonderful support the donkeys give to the service users, they also receive training from qualified staff who aim to find suitable and vetted forever homes for them.

Please help us save the Leeds Donkey Sanctuary and the wonderful work they do by signing this petition and showing your support.
