The City of Van Buren currently has a policy in place that requires euthanasia of any dog that is picked up by Animal Control and unclaimed by an owner. These dogs are killed in as little as 5 days. They are killed regardless of age,health, temperament, or adoptability. The city doesn't allow adoption of any of the dogs it takes in.
