Save the Dirt Jumps

The Issue

Behind the Falmouth Skatepark there is a wooded portion of land that has been used to create dirt jumps for use by many people. 30+ years of collaboration went into these jumps and trails.

Many people, young and old, have enjoyed use of this land, whether it be walking their dogs, making an attempt at mastering the jump lines, or just enjoying the unrestricted natural scenery. These trails and jumps are well respected by all who benefit from their availability.

Recently, the Town of Falmouth has introduced a 2-million-dollar plan to destroy this land for the purpose of creating pickleball courts. Stating they will "stuff as many courts as possible" into the space, this proves the towns intentions to deforest and destroy a treasured piece of community land.

With plenty of other land available, it seems wildly unnecessary to destroy a piece of town history. The noise from a large scale pickleball area will almost certainly disturb the neighborhoods who have always had access to these trails. Countless memories have been created in this area by people young and old alike.

There is no reason to destroy an incredibly important piece of land.
