This house, located in Nesconset has immense historical significance,which dates all the way back to 1810. It was owned by the Smith, Newton, Mills, Blydenburgh and Hallock families, as well as Captain  George McCormick, who fought in the Civil War under General Custer at Gettysburg. Suffolk County bought the lived in home in good faith from the Commerdinger family in 2006 only to keep it boarded up since then. The Commerdinger Preservation Society has tried to maintain the home and property with the county only to be handed unsustainable contracts. As of now the home is boarded up and receives only minimal  maintenance in covering up graffiti and lawn services. We need your help and support now to save this historic house from destruction.
