On November 7, 2024, a 13-year-old attempted to enter Roosevelt Elementary School with, what was thought to be, a real weapon to cause harm to students. Luckily, before granted access, Mr. Lowry, a teacher at the school, confronted the individual, who then fled the scene. The 13-year-old was later apprehended and luckily, it was determined his rifle was fake. 

Our schools may not be so lucky next time. 

There is a reason school mass shootings keep happening. Because it is way too easy. 

ALL of our schools are NOT secure.

For the safety of our children, we are asking that all Kenosha Unified schools be equipped with secure entrances and occupied with a trained security liaison at the main entrance. So that the next time someone attempts to terrorize our students, ALL of our students are safe. 

If there is not enough money in the budget to do so, a referendum should be put in place for taxpayers to vote on. 

Because there is something we can all agree on…children’s lives matter.
