Save the charm and character of Wells Street - SAY NO TO THE PROPOSED HOTEL at O'Brien's

The Issue

Sad to report the CPC approved the hotel on 6/16 (See update below). However, we THINK it still has to go to the Zoning Board, which provides another opportunity for participation by the public. Given that, we encourage you to keep the signatures and comments coming, and should we be able to get a LARGE group together to attend that meeting we can once again present our case as well as the information in this petition.

PLEASE CONSIDER TAKING ACTION TODAY REGARDING THE ZONING CHANGE.  It only takes a minute or two.

If you’ve already signed the petition but did NOT provide a comment, please consider adding one.  The more comments we present, the more we show our commitment to this issue. Email those in charge of the decision (one email to all works).  You only need one or two sentences as to why you oppose the proposed hotel.

BUT THIS HAS TO RELATE TO ZONING!

Send to:

  • walter.burnett@cityofchicago.org – 27th Ward Alderman
  • cc: david.reifman@cityofchicago.org - David Reifman is the Commissioner of the Department of Planning and Development.
  • cc: patti.scudiero@cityofchicago.com - Patricia Scudiero, is the Zoning Administrator.
  • cc:  daniel.solis@cityofchicago.com - Daniel Solis, Chairman of the Committee on Zoning
  • Please also consider ‘cc-ing’ us at nowellsstreethotel@yahoo.com so we make sure no comments fall through the cracks. (If you emailed already but didn’t copy us, please forward it to the above address so we can add it to our package of comments).

Spread the word! Make sure your neighbors are informed and given a chance to weigh in. Share this information with all your neighbors on Facebook, email, doors, cars and association bulletin boards,  Refer them to this petition site for more information.

We’re not against development, we just want responsible, thoughtful development…sized right for the neighborhood, complies with current zoning and serves the residents of the Old Town community.

Please join us in telling them we care about this neighborhood and its future before it’s too late!
