Save the Centre for Contemporary Arts (CCA)

Save the Centre for Contemporary Arts (CCA)
The Issue
Dear Creative Scotland & the Scottish Government,
We are writing to express our deep concern regarding the proposed liquidation of the Centre for Contemporary Arts (CCA) in Glasgow. This petition is to urge Creative Scotland and the Scottish Government to take immediate action to prevent CCA’s permanent closure.
CCA is not simply a building or an organisation, it is a vital cultural institution that has supported artists, audiences and communities in Scotland for decades. It provides a central space, resources, connection and visibility for artists, arts organisations and our communities. The loss of the CCA would represent a profound and irreversible blow to Scotland’s cultural ecosystem.
At a time when artists and cultural workers are facing rising costs, reduced funding and increasing precarity, allowing a cornerstone organisation like CCA to be liquidated sends a devastating message about the value placed on arts and culture in Scotland. Once this infrastructure is lost, it cannot be easily rebuilt.
Creative Scotland plays a crucial role in public cultural funding and responsibility. We strongly urge you to explore all possible alternatives to liquidation, including emergency intervention, restructuring or collaborative solutions that would allow CCA to continue operating and serving our artists and communities. The Scottish Government can intervene and a collective solution is possible to save a fundamental organisation and resource of Scotland’s cultural arts sector.
Saving CCA is not only about preserving a venue, but also about safeguarding opportunities for artists, protecting jobs, sustaining communities and upholding Scotland’s reputation as a place that values creativity, experimentation and cultural leadership.
We ask Creative Scotland and the Scottish Government to act with urgency, transparency and care, and to work alongside stakeholders to ensure that CCA remains open and supported for future generations.
We hope that you will recognise the seriousness of this moment and take decisive action to save the CCA, its dedicated staff and our communities.
