Hi everyone, thank you so much for your support on our effort to Save the Catalyst. We are humbled to receive your support, and to see that the community wants the Catalyst to be saved.
We are e-mailing you to let you know about an important community Zoom meeting happening tomorrow.
We need all hands on deck for Thursday’s Zoom meeting with the city’s planning division and the developer to Save the Catalyst. The meeting goes from 6pm to 7:30pm. It is important for us to show out and communicate that we are OPPOSED TO THE DEMOLITION of the Catalyst, and that we want to make the Catalyst into a historical preservation landmark.
You can voice your concerns about this project via Zoom, or through the City’s website.

For a script on what to say or send, refer to this letter:
My name is [Your Name]. I’m here to oppose demolition of the Catalyst and to oppose the project as currently proposed.
The Catalyst cannot be saved under this housing proposal because the design legally requires its demolition. That creates a false choice between housing and cultural preservation.
We are not opposed to housing. We are opposed to this project as is, because it permanently eliminates an irreplaceable cultural institution.
The Catalyst is a historic live-music venue, a downtown economic driver, and a core part of Santa Cruz’s identity. Once it’s demolished, it’s gone forever.
I urge you to oppose demolition of the Catalyst and designate the Catalyst as a historic preservation landmark.
Thank you.
