Save the Cape & Islands Community Mental Health Center in Pocasset!
The Issue
Save the Cape & Islands Community Mental Health Center in Pocasset!
We, the undersigned, call on the Department of Mental Health to reverse course regarding the decision to close the Cape Cod & Islands Community Mental Health Center, which has provided essential inpatient care to psychiatric patients for decades.
The Department of Mental Health’s decision to close 16 in-patient beds in an area of critical need will further exacerbate issues of mental health access across the region.
We need more mental health services, and cuts are unacceptable. Closing mental health services will hurt our community.
This decision by the Department of Mental Health will not save money. These patients still need care and will end up in emergency departments, costing our state even more money.
We’re calling on the Department to reverse this reckless move. Our community is fighting to keep these critical mental health services on Cape Cod and beyond. Join us.
Join State Senator Dylan Fernandes, nurses, healthcare counselors, and people across our region concerned about mental health access in fighting against the closure of the Mental Health Center in Pocasset.
By signing on, you will also receive action updates on how you can get involved to save these beds.
