Feedback Window to Larner McGrath (Planning Consultants) Extended

At the Milnathort & Orwell Community Council meeting on 11th June, planning consultants, Larner McGrath, confirmed that feedback will be accepted until 5pm on 18th June.
 
People are encouraged to email concerns directly to lesley@larnermcgrath.co.uk before the deadline and cc emails to our local Councillor WBRobertson@pkc.gov.uk and communitycouncilmilnathort@gmail.com so they are aware of our views regarding this development. Comments on Facebook will not be considered by the consultants as formal feedback.
 
Here's a reminder of the key concerns raised by residents:

• Road safety and increase in traffic and congestion – lodge residents and spa day visitors could mean an increase of hundreds of cars per day through Milnathort (& Kinross depending on direction of travel and use of Junction 6 M90 at Kinross). 
• Lack of a continuous accessible public footpath between the development and Milnathort.
• Visual impact of the development on rural environment and historic ancient monument, Burleigh Castle.
• Potential environmental effects on the loch, including algal blooms and water pollution from wastewater.
• Impact to local wildlife and biodiversity - there is an abundance of wildlife in this area.
• Increase in pollution - noise, light, air, litter.
• Potential impact on existing, independent, wellbeing and leisure businesses.
• Questions about the need for another large holiday development given existing and proposed developments nearby.  Similar, larger lodge sites have already been approved near Kelty and Powmill on former mining land (brownfield) – both within 10 miles of Milnathort.
• Impact of increased visitor numbers on access to local GP services.
• Proposed location of wastewater treatment facilities.
• Lack of detailed plans showing supporting infrastructure and service locations.
• Whether a new electricity substation will be required and where it would be situated.
• Whether architects have incorporated feedback from previous consultations, including concerns about the size, design and height of the leisure building (including it's proposed position on the highest part of the site).
• Timing of future community consultations and whether they will occur before a planning application is submitted. Larner McGrath committed to further consultations during the meeting.
• Guarantees that chalets would remain short-term holiday accommodation and not become long-term residential units.
• Concerns that, if commercially unsuccessful, the site could eventually be converted to housing.
• Clarification on how the claimed £3.5 million annual economic benefit would directly support Milnathort and Kinross communities.
