Save The Burbank Rancho

The Issue

This is a petition to stop the sale for the property at 910 Mariposa St. Burbank, CA and to convince Burbank City Council to purchase and maintain the property as a horse stable.

The property in question is 1.1 acres and is in escrow with plans to build 5 two story office buildings and 1 two story mixed use building. Twenty feet away sits the Mariposa Horse Bridge; Burbank's primary access to the Griffith Park trails. Local residents, hikers, equestrians, pedestrians, and dog walkers all converge at this location from 4 directions.

It is NOT SAFE! Allowing construction for these office buildings or townhomes will increase traffic in a residential neighborhood. Mariposa St. narrows to one lane making this a very tiny area to be bringing in so much traffic. There is no way to mitigate the traffic as widening the street, putting in bumps and numerous signs are not adequate. In addition the property is zoned for these office buildings and SB35 overrides local zoning and control, we have only ONE leg to stand on and that is SAFETY! This is not IF an accident will happen, but how many and how soon they will happen.

We ask our City Council to do their function which is to protect the residents of Burbank and honor residents over code and state. Please buy the last horse boarding facility in Burbank and maintain it for your residents.

We are looking to gather as many names as possible in hopes that a large audience can make an impact on our city council. It's not safe and safety cannot be mitigated. The horses will be gone and a piece of the Rancho dies.
