Bridge to remain open

“New York State Department of Transportation Commissioner Matthew J. Driscoll today, September 7th, announced that the Department will no longer consider removing the Nelson Avenue Extension bridges over Interstate 87, the Adirondack Northway, in Saratoga County.” On behalf of our committee I am pleased that NYS DOT now plans to keep this bridge open. It is reassuring to me that they were able to rethink and review the issue and chose to work with concerned citizens to achieve a successful resolution to what could have been a severe hardship for our residents. We will now work closely with our elected and DOT officials to appropriate money and make certain the bridge replacement is in a future budget on behalf of thousands of local stakeholders who will benefit from the Nelson Avenue Extension bridge over I-87.
