The City of Fernie and the Fernie District Arts Council have decided to evict The Blue Toque from city property with little more than a months notice.

Its time to change how the city of Fernie treats the businesses in this community. 

The City of Fernie has signed a new agreement with the Fernie District Arts Council which failed to include the 17 year sub-lease to The Blue Toque. And they feel that neglecting the fact they have had a 17 year sublease gives them the right to evict The Blue Toque with one months notice. 

 On the cities website they state:

The City is continually working to ensure that the local economy stays strong for established businesses.

This is a direct contratiction to their stated goals, and it shows how little respect the city has for its businesses and citizens. 

I have attached the documents and weak reply from our mayor, who showed no interest in advocating for the The Blue Toque and the people behind the business who will be losing their livelyhood and investment in this iconic Fernie restaurant. 

We will share this petition with the other councillors and hope to find an advocate for a change the cities position on this eviction. As well we hope citizens upset by this will chose to boycott the Fernie District and Arts Council programs.

Please speak up now on this matter, as the eviction is less than a month away. Please make your voice heard with the city, councillors and Fernie District & Arts Council.
