Save The Blakes Walk Poplar Trees in Lewes, East Sussex

Save The Blakes Walk Poplar Trees in Lewes, East Sussex
The Issue
The beautiful poplar trees on Blakes Walk are scheduled to ALL be felled in early January 2024. Some of the other trees are to be cut down as well.
The removal of these majestic trees will substantially alter the character of this very well used and highly popular walking and cycling avenue between Malling and Lewes town centre.
(Note: These are the tall trees to the east side of Malling Field, between the road and the new housing development).
This decision has been made by East Sussex County Council Highways department with no consultation with Lewes residents, with the Town Council or with the Friends of Lewes.
If you want to save these lovely trees and send a message that Lewes residents will fight to preserve all of our trees, throughout the town, the county and beyond, please sign the petition now and encourage others to do so, too.
Please sign, too, if you don't live in Lewes but feel it is wrong to remove perfectly healthy and thriving mature trees for no justifiable reason.
Thank you.
