Thank you again to everyone who signed and shared the petition to save the Black Horse.
I am very pleased to confirm that the application to list the Black Horse as an Asset of Community Value (ACV) has now been formally submitted to Barnet Council by St John Baptist Church, on behalf of the community. Huge thanks to St John’s for volunteering to act as the nominee and for stepping forward to support this effort!
Under the Localism Act, the Council now has 8 weeks to assess the application and decide whether to list the pub. If it is approved, this will recognise the Black Horse’s importance to the community and give local people a stronger voice over its future.
Your support has been essential. The 3,385 signatures helped demonstrate the depth of feeling locally and the realistic future use of the pub as a community space. You helped boost our campaign into the public eye, with coverage in BBC News, London Evening Standard, Barnet Post, The Morning Advertiser, and the Barnet Society.
I will share another update as soon as I hear from the Council.
Thank you for standing up for the Black Horse.
