Save the Birds at El Dorado Duck Pond

Save the Birds at El Dorado Duck Pond
The Issue
The Duck Pond. This is the name of El Dorado Park West’s much beloved lake that so many of us have grown up with, and love to this day. All agree that this pond needs revitalization, but the plans put forth by the City of Long Beach in the public meeting held in August exclude the animals. “They will just go away when construction begins.”
As it stands now, days before the fence is put up, the California Department or Fish and Wildlife has denied relocation plans for both domestic and wild birds presented by the biologist hired by Public Works.
In other words-there is no plan. These animals will be fenced out of water, food and safety until they die.
What would the Duck Pond be without the animals? The domestic, un-flighted animals that were unwanted and then DUMPED by careless people at no fault of their own? And the wild birds that look to the Duck Pond as a resting place from their long migration? And what information has been given to the community that cares so much about them? None.
Please sign this petition to ask the City of Long Beach to get a professional, humane and properly permitted plan together for these desperate animals.
it is the Duck Pond after all….
