PLEASE ACT NOW - to demand new public green space and a Community orchard  on the corner of Windmill Lane/ Hob Lane!

We demand that the developer reconsiders their illustrative Concept Plans to better utilise brownfield within the site ( and within the constraints of the Contamination Report).

The playing field currently proposed for Brownfield land should be moved to the corner of Windmill Lane/ Hob Lane along with a Community Orchard.

It is true that Windmill Lane was not formerly included in the BC4 Green Buffer designation . However, Policy BC4 2 ii does include the need to protect the character of Windmill Lane, Hob Lane and latterly Waste Lane. The corner of Windmill Lane/ Hob Lane should be given the same level of Green Buffer protection as Waste Lane and the rest of Hob Lane ( within the development).

Together we can demand that the developer moves the green spaces and Community orchard to the corner of Windmill Lane/Hob Lane .

Your signature is a call to protect the Berkswell Windmill and its setting  from any proposals , including from future Local Plan developments, to preserve the unique rural setting , character and beauty of the Grade II Star Listed Berkswell Windmill. Our local representatives have worked very hard to protect 6 acres- the whole frontage of Waste Lane - which shows what can be achieved .  They even secured a reduction in numbers of houses  to push back development even further from Waste Lane to Windmill Lane.  BUT they have FAILED to protect the Windmill and Windmill Lane.

Public green space on the corner of Windmill Lane/Hob Lane will provide many benefits to all residents and the wider community.  A place to relax and enjoy the iconic view of the Windmill over greenbelt land. Keep  the sails keep turning!
