Bee killing pesticide sanctioned by the British Government!

Despite Britain losing one third of it’s bees in the last decade, George Eustice MP has sanctioned the use neonicotinoids in Britain this spring; a pesticide that kills bees and other pollinating insects.

Bees play an essential role in the ecosystem by pollinating plants. Reductions in the number of bees directly reflects in a reduction in biodiversity and the result of a world without these tiny creatures would certainly be ecological collapse. This effects both wild plants and crops, and therefore both public spaces and private supply chains. The British government should be doing everything in its power to protect bees and British ecosystems. Instead they consistently put profit first in a short sighted attempted to appease farmers that will actually result in long term ecological disaster.

Neonicotinoids are banned in the EU to prevent further decimation to the bee population. This ban was actually supported by the British government 3 years ago, but now the government are happy to turn a blind eye to the ecological disasters we face in the 21st century.

Upon Britain’s exit from the EU, we lost the greatest collection of legally binding environmental law in the world to date. We must now fill the gap and prevent the British government’s abandonment of environmental principles of protection. There is no excuse that should allow the use of such a detrimental and immoral substance.

Save the bees. Stop the use of Neonicotinoids.
