Update: Zoning Update on the Eastern Portion
We want to keep you informed as this effort moves forward.
We've learned that the eastern portion of the former Eagle Mountain Golf Club back nine is zoned R2, and the developer is moving forward with plans to build townhomes on that section. Councilwoman Hill's office has confirmed that current R2 zoning does not prevent this type of development.
This is disappointing news for those of us who hoped to see the entire back nine preserved as green space. But it doesn't change our resolve for the rest of the property.
Here's what this means for our effort:
The townhome development on the eastern R2 portion appears to be moving forward under existing zoning rights.
We're continuing to push for preservation of the remaining portions of the back nine, and exploring what options — rezoning requests, conservation easements, city acquisition, or other tools — may still be available.
