We are a huge part of the nursing team at Ashgate Hospice, a place where we all love to work and are passionate about our patients and their families.

Unfortunately, Ashgate Senior Leadership has decided to threaten our jobs weeks before Christmas, leaving us no option but to stand together in defence of our patients & our profession.

So far we have been overwhelmed by the incredible public support, many asking the same questions we have - 'Why sack nurses for Christmas?'

Our community, our patients & our team love Ashgate and can not bear to see it run into the ground by a Senior Leadership Team unwilling to look at their own roles before the front line nursing team.

Ashgate Senior Leadership have also refused to allow our chosen trade union, the Royal College of Nursing, in to represent us collectively  throughout this process & have refused to recognise our union.

Therefore, as a large part of Ashgate Hospice nursing staff, we're calling on Senior Leadership to:

• Allow the ICB to complete a full commissioned review into Ashgate's financial management
• Stop all cuts to the nursing team
• Stop refusing to allow the Royal College of Nursing to collectively represent us
• Meaningfully consult with staff over ways to reduce costs

We've given our time, skill, and lives to this hospice, for our patients. Now we ask the Ashgate Senior Leadership for honesty, fairness, and transparency in return.
