The Mesa Arts Center plans on closing the  Store at the Mesa Arts Center, a volunteer run shop selling art from local artists. 

The Store is an important source of income for local artists and a unique part of the community- a place where every item is locally made.This retail space is one of the most accessible spaces that any member of the public can see and take home art made by the community. It is one of the city's premier shops to buy affordable gifts and souvenirs that tell stories about ourselves. The space uses entirely volunteer artist staff and even hosts free art demonstration events. 

Artists were informed late last week that the shop is closing at the end of May without any reason given and without disclosing future plans for the space. Saving the store is the main goal with this campaign, however greater transparency from a city funded entity is also essential for all stakeholders.
