While scrolling through facebook, we came across rabbits. Rabbits used in experiments, as we become curious about the post we begin to do research and find out that there are other animals at use for experiments. Animals have been our faithful friends and an integral part of our environment. They deserve our protection and care and we must also raise a voice against the brutality of animal testing that causes immense pain and does not provide ultimate benefits to human health.

Each year, more than 110 million animals including mice, rats, frogs, dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, monkeys, fish, and birds are killed in U.S. laboratories for chemical, drug, food, and cosmetics testing. The latest report from the European Commission shows that France conducted the highest number of animal uses in Europe in 2022 (2.1 million). Germany was the second highest user completing 1.7 million uses in 2022, while Norway was third with 1.4 million uses that year. 

Before their deaths, some are forced to inhale toxic fumes, others are immobilized in restraint devices for hours, some have holes drilled into their skulls, and others have their skin burned off or their spinal cords crushed. In addition to the torment of the actual experiments, animals in laboratories are deprived of everything that is natural and important to them. They are confined to barren cages, socially isolated, and psychologically traumatized. The thinking, feeling animals who are used in experiments are treated like nothing more than disposable laboratory equipment. 

Animal testing began to be a common practice especially to industries like pharmaceuticals and cosmetics. It is certain that this will ensure the safety of us users but the use of harmless and earthly living creatures should not be tolerated for it is violating their rights and dignity like us human beings. Animal testing oftenly fails to predict human reactions accurately as well.

Wildlife is significantly and frequently affected by animal experiments. The practice affects our concept of our responsibility toward other species, leads to the loss of biodiversity, and damages the health of ecosystems. It is triggering to see that animal testing is still happening around the world. This shows a lack of respect for the rights and well-being of animals. We need to push for better alternatives and solutions that treat all living beings with compassion.
