SAVE the Aggie Mental Health Ambassadors Program

The Issue

The Aggie Mental Health Ambassador (AMHA) Program is a program here at UC Davis that provides direct peer to peer outreach regarding mental health resource education and wellbeing.

We were recently informed by the Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs Pablo G. Reguerín that our program will be defunded beginning with the upcoming academic year.

Our program provides mental health support and resource education through direct and effective peer to peer outreach to our UC Davis community something that is unique entirely to our program. As ambassadors, we receive continuous and intensive science backed training and support in order to continue being able to properly educate and support our community. We have an immense level of strategic outreach to reach students, especially those that may not reach out to resource centers themselves due to perceived stigma. We provide warm hand offs to crisis relief, we provide physical resources and emotional support, and we foster a high sense of community here on campus for all students.
