The Issue

My name is Alexia Wieferich and my love for animals has always been a guiding force in my life. Recently, I became aware of a group of donkeys here in Farwell, MI, who were suffering terrible conditions. These gentle creatures have been subjected to neglect and abuse, leaving them with severe foot ailments and in desperate need of care and rehabilitation.

These donkeys have endured unimaginable pain, their hooves overgrown, cracked, and infected due to lack of proper care. Many of them have also suffered at the hands of abusive owners, making their lives hellish and filled with daily distress. As a community that takes pride in compassion and love for all creatures, it is our duty to provide them with the compassion and care they so desperately deserve.

Current laws in Michigan do provide some protection for animals, but there is a clear gap when it comes to enforcement and ensuring that these donkeys are not returned to abusive owners without strict oversight. This petition seeks the intervention of local authorities and animal protection organizations to rescue these donkeys, give them the medical attention they need, and place them in safe, caring environments where they can heal and live their lives in peace.

The solution lies in funding local animal shelters and sanctuaries to extend their capabilities and in increasing the scrutiny and monitoring of those who have been found guilty of animal abuse. By calling upon the local community and government to act, we can make a meaningful impact on the lives of these donkeys.

Protecting these vulnerable animals satisfies a moral duty towards all sentient beings. Please join me in calling on the local government and community leaders to provide assistance to this urgent cause. Together, we can ensure these donkeys are not forgotten and receive the love, care, and respect they deserve. Sign this petition today to make a difference.
