Save the abandoned cats from the Bellingham encampment
The Issue
North Bellingham, specifically between E. Stuart Road, Kellogg Road, and James Street, a community of helpless cats and kittens has been abandoned. This crisis emerged after the city forced around 200 unhoused individuals to vacate the encampment on August 3rd, leaving behind their feline companions.
These cats now find themselves homeless and in peril due to the lack of structured efforts to rescue them. The city has prohibited any rescue operations from entering the area, citing a planned cleanup and timber harvest that poses an imminent threat to the lives of these vulnerable animals.
