Save the 8,000 Captive Lions in South Africa – Stop Mass Euthanasia

Le problème

South Africa has enacted a law banning the breeding of lions in captivity for commercial purposes (hunting, bone trade for traditional medicine in Asia), a decision applauded by animal rights activists. However, this shutdown now threatens the lives of 8,000 to 12,000 lions, born and bred in captivity. Their crime? Being born into a system that is now destined to end. The South African government proposes as a main solution a "humane" euthanasia. A mass death sentence, disguised as an animal rights reform. Among the threatened facilities is "Ukutula Conservation Center," a conservation and scientific research center committed since 2006 to the preservation of wildlife, the education of future generations, a genetic biobank, and pioneering scientific projects (no lions breeding).

We, the undersigned of this petition:

➢ Ask the South African government to make a distinction between commercially exploitative centers and ethical research centers;
➢ Wish for a solution that does not resort to mass euthanasia;
➢ Support Ukutula Conservation Center and the researchers who work daily to save this beautiful species.

✊ Together, let's say NO to the euthanasia of captive lions and YES to true conservation policy and research.
