Thanet's countryside is at high risk!!!!  Please sign the petition to show Thanet District Council that we are united and determined to protect our quickly disappearing countryside.

Growing up in the scenic landscape of Thanet, it has always been a place where one could escape the urban hustle and find solace in nature. But now, the fields where I played, the farms that were once vibrant with life, and the lush green belts that have defined our community for generations are under threat. Soon, there might be no countryside left to enjoy, not just for us but for future generations.

Thanet is unique, its green wedges and agricultural lands act as the lungs of our community, providing not just food and shelter to wildlife but also a crucial environmental buffer. These spaces are vital for maintaining biodiversity and ensuring that our natural heritage is preserved, Thanet District Council has a responsibility to protect these areas from overdevelopment and exploitation, guaranteeing  they remain untouched and flourishing.

We are witnessing increasing encroachments into these green spaces in the name of progress and modernization, However,  this short-sightedness is costly. Once these lands are paved over, they are lost forever. Destruction of these areas not only harms the environment but erases our community's identity and rich history.

Immediate action is required. The key lies in reviewing and enforcing stronger protective  measures within  the Thanet Local Plan. This includes categorically designating these zones as untouchable green belts, promoting sustainable agricultural practices, and recognizing these zones' importance in environmental conservation.

Its crucial to urge Thanet District Council to prioritize protecting green wedges, agricultural, and conservation areas. Preservation of these lands is more that a local issue; it's about safeguarding the planets collective future. Let's cherish and protect what we cannot replace.

We call Thanet District Council to action to protect our green wedge/belt (land which they allocated to be specifically protected in the local plan)  conservation areas, and agricultural land.
