The Issue

I am a resident of the beautiful Temescal Valley and a source of disruption is looming over our community – the planned multi-warehouse project, THE SERRANO COMMERCE CENTER.  This monolith of industry, a 6,472,000 sq. ft. multi-warehouse complex, is poised to dramatically alter our cherished local open landscape and impact the quality of our daily life.

The Serrano Commerce Center will run 1.5 miles parallel to the I-15 Freeway, south of Dawson Canyon Road and east of Temescal Canyon Road.  The project is to be built on undeveloped land that is currently a habitat for many local species of wildlife.  The project will be built in close proximity to three housing developments:  Sycamore Creek, Trilogy Retirement Community, and Terramor (retirement and all ages community).

Health Hazards

it is estimated that 1,500 additional diesel trucks will travel on the I-15 Freeway to and from the Serrano Center daily. This puts residents in the surrounding communities at a much greater health risk, especially the children who attend the elementary school within a mile from the project and the elderly who live in close proximity communities.  This was substantiated by The South Coast AQMD’s Air Toxics Exposure Study in 2021. This study concluded, “THE LARGEST CONTRIBUTOR TO CANCER RISK FROM AIR POLLUTION IS DIESEL PARTICULATE MATTER EMISSIONS.”

Environmental Impact

This part of Riverside County already has some of the worst air pollution in the Inland Empire.  We don’t need any more.  Almost 500 acres of wildlife habitat will have to be destroyed to build the project.
24-hour operation of the Serrano Center will create new levels of light and noise pollution never seen in our valley.

Increased Traffic

The I-15 Freeway is already beyond capacity and grid-locked during commuting hours.  We already have long commutes in and out of Temescal Valley.  The I-15 and surrounding streets CANNOT accommodate an additional 1,500 diesel trucks on a daily basis in Temescal Valley.

Stand with us and save Temescal Valley. Say ‘NO’ to the Serrano multi-warehouse project!  Safeguard our homes, our health and our community’s future.  Please sign the petition today.
