Dear Friends,

The Riverside Planning Commission has forwarded STR Ordinance 927.1 to the Rivco Board of Supervisors for final approval on July 26th. Although there have been some improvements to the ordinance, there are still some major issues regarding Wine Country that were not addressed.

The Planning Commission wants to move forward with the Ordinance as Phase 1 county-wide.  Phase 2 would include workshops to discuss STR restrictions in Wine Country and Idyllwild such as:  caps on number of permitted STR’s, locations, limits based on proximity to other properties and paved roads.

Please send an email to Chuck Washington and cc the other Supervisors expressing your STR concerns.  Some major topics for your email:

·  A pause/moratorium on Wine Country STR permits is essential until Phase 2 is worked out, since STR’s are in violation of the Wine Country Community Plan/Code.

·  Ban STR’s in Wine Country residential per the Wine Country Community Plan.

·  Mandating a 10% cap in Wine Country is vital to keep our area from being overtaken by investors.  National investors including Marriot are already out here gobbling up properties.  A national property management firm also lists Temecula Wine Country as the #2 place in the nation to invest in vacation rental properties.

·  Since noise is the #1 issue with STR’s, no amplified noise of any type, day or night. 

·  Any other issues that are of importance to you.
