The age of consent sits at age 16 in Pennsylvania. My 16 year old was manipulated by a 28 year old co worker. When the co-worker had my teen lie to everyone to avoid detection on their interactions. When it was thought my teen couldn't tell about the interaction the 28 year old sexually assaulted my child. Causing injury. The co worker apologized profusely, explaining that's how "adult" sexual relationships work. The coworker went on to sexually assault my child AGAIN. This time causing more severe injury. What the 28 year co worker didn't understand was that my teen knew/knows the unconditional love I have for both my children. Because they were always told that at the end of the day, I will always love them. My teen finally understood that sexual assault occurred not just once but twice. My teen came forward the same day as the 2nd assault occurred. Admitting there was consensual sex that turned unconsenual. The Pennsylvania State Police were contacted. They were made aware of the whole situation. I was told that they may not be able to pursue charges if the 28 year old says there was consensual sex. Because it would be a he/she said she/he said. Due to the fact that 16 years of age is the age of consent in Pennsylvania. I never felt so angry and hopeless at the same time. Luckily the 28 year old denied any sexual contact with my teen. He/she was arrested and charged 11 months after the sexual assault. He/she is awaiting trial. He/she was also arrested for sexual assault of another teen from the same place of employment.  He/she has already been found guilty at trial for that case. My child was in no way mature enough to consent at 16. Especially to someone that's was that much older and more experienced . There is no law protecting my child or yours against people, like this 28 year old. If there is laws saying teens aren't mature enough to use tobacco or to consume alcohol, then why is there no law saying that they aren't mature enough to consent to sex, until they are older? There are 11 other states that have the age of consent set at 18 years of age.  Please help show that I have support. I will be presenting this petition to The Pennsylvania Senate Judiciary Committee in the beginning of 2025.
