Save Our Green Space!

The Issue

4/1 Update: If you'd like to contribute to legal counsel fees, please donate now at:
https://www.gofundme.com/f/friends-of-taylor-field This is a separate site from petition page.

The ENTIRE 26 acres comprising Taylor Fields, the Houghton Transfer Station, and the surrounding green space is being considered for an industrial use transfer facility.  A facility of this nature will most certainly bring an increase in large haulers, garbage trucks, and idling vehicles into the heart of neighborhoods and school zones 7 days a week. It is a potential safety hazard to neighborhood children and families.

This is in direct opposition with the city’s master plan for our neighborhoods and with the city’s sustainability and conservation efforts. The County has been promising to close the current Houghton facility for the last 20 years. The current Siting Advisory Group has chosen to ignore these facts, and have selected the Taylor Field as a top choice for the next industrial transfer station.

Take action today! Petition to remove this site from King County's short list of viable sites. Demand that King County fairly and transparently identify a new/alternate list of potential sites for a transfer station that is in a commercial or industrial area and has appropriate infrastructure in place.

When you sign this petition you're letting the city of Kirkland and King County know that our neighborhood is deeply passionate about the environment, the safety of the community, and the quality of life for those work, live, and play in the Houghton neighborhood.

Local voices matter! When you sign the petition, please make sure to include your zip code as well. It's critical info to show the voice of our local community.
