Thanks again to everyone for signing and sharing.

The concept behind this petition is to complete the 520 project as planned. We are advocates for marine construction methods that will likely reduce cost and impacts.

December 5, 2023 is worth a look.

"Seattle’s Second Highway Lid over SR 520 Is in Trouble"

The aspect of the article suggesting that discussions at the legislature may encompass deleting the Roanoke Lid is extremely disappointing. We hope the legislature can find a way to complete the project as planned. The Roanoke lid is an aspect of the project that provides substantial benefit to the bicycling and pedestrian community as well as Capitol Hill residents, healing a long standing scar from the 1960's.

Our technical working group continues to advocate for the concept of allowing marine construction as a way to reduce costs and impacts. We have recently contacted Representative Fey's office offering to present options for cost savings and impact reduction.

A read of the article suggests that your signatures have made a difference and the legislature is taking a hard look at options for proceeding.  We are hopeful that the cost and environmental benefits of marine construction will push this option forward as the legislature considers how to proceed.

Cost savings from marine construction might help finance the Roanoke lid.
