The Tamworth Film & Sound Archive is likely to be closed as the Regional Council building, Ray Walsh House, is closing due to Asbestos issues and have failed to find a suitable alternative for the Tamworth Film and Sound Archive to relocate too. 

The Tamworth Regional Sound Archive preserves the Tamworth region's film and sound heritage with material dating back to 1916.

The archive was form in 1995 and is home to more than 800 cans and cassettes of local and regionally produced visual Material. There are 20,000 items on its database as well as historical audio material. 

The objectives of the archive are:

• To encourage the preservation of all visual and audio material
• To emulate the objectives of the National Film and Sound Archive

We need your help to ensure the Tamworth Regional Council relocates the archive to a secure and suitable location and ensure it doesn't close.  I small group of volunteers have worked tediously over the years to create this large bank of historical information and it can't be just left to close.
