Save Surrey Youth Choir!

The Issue

Surrey Youth Choir, a beacon of musical excellence and a nurturing community for young talent, is facing an imminent threat of closure. This closure impacts the future of these young people. The choir has, for 38 years, fostered a love for music in children across Surrey, providing them with opportunities to learn, perform, and grow both personally and artistically.

Singing is widely recognised as one of the most accessible and inclusive forms of music-making. It is strongly encouraged in all stages of the Model Music Curriculum, requires no instrument hire, and has one of the lowest cost barriers for young people. Research consistently highlights its profound benefits for mental health and wellbeing, due to its unique connection with breath, body, and social connection.

We urge Surrey County Council and Surrey Arts to reconsider this decision. Let's work together to find a solution that keeps Surrey Youth Choir singing. The young voices of Surrey deserve to be heard, and your support could make all the difference.

Please sign this petition and help us keep the choir going for Surrey's young people. Your signature can make a significant impact.
