The Sarasota County School Board Superintendent has suggested merging Suncoast Polytechnical High School with Brookside Middle School. This severely impacts SPHS students and staff, who work hard to create a small, supportive environment where people can truly enjoy learning.

If this plan goes into effect, SPHS will not be the same. Its strong connection to the college and the unique programs and experiences it offers would be disrupted — opportunities that simply don’t exist at other schools.

By making this change, the entire community that SPHS has worked to build would be dismantled. It would undermine the purpose of maintaining a small, close-knit learning environment where every student feels heard and supported.
