We, the undersigned, hereby petition for urgent action to address the plight of stray dogs in Jordan, particularly in regards to their suffering from hunger and violence. It is imperative that immediate measures are taken to ensure the well-being and protection of these vulnerable animals.

In recent years, the population of stray dogs in Jordan has increased significantly, resulting in numerous dogs facing starvation and malnutrition due to lack of access to food and resources. Furthermore, many stray dogs are subjected to violence and abuse, including poisoning, physical harm, and inhumane methods of population control.

As compassionate individuals and advocates for animal welfare, we cannot stand idly by while innocent animals suffer needlessly. We call upon the relevant authorities and organizations to take the following actions:

Implement sustainable feeding programs: Establish feeding stations and initiatives to provide nutritious food and water to stray dogs in Jordanian cities and communities. These programs should be designed to ensure the long-term health and well-being of stray dogs while also addressing the root causes of overpopulation.

Strengthen animal protection laws: Enact and enforce stricter legislation to protect stray dogs from cruelty, abuse, and harm. Penalties for those found guilty of mistreating or harming animals should be severe enough to serve as a deterrent and ensure accountability.

Promote humane methods of population control: Instead of resorting to inhumane methods such as poisoning or culling, prioritize the implementation of effective and humane strategies for managing stray dog populations, such as trap-neuter-return (TNR) programs.

Increase public awareness and education: Launch public awareness campaigns to educate citizens about responsible pet ownership, the importance of spaying and neutering, and the humane treatment of animals. Encourage community involvement in caring for stray dogs and fostering a culture of compassion towards all living beings.

Allocate resources for animal welfare: Provide adequate funding and resources to support animal shelters, rescue organizations, and veterinary clinics that are dedicated to the welfare and protection of stray dogs in Jordan.
By taking decisive action to address the challenges faced by stray dogs in Jordan, we can create a more compassionate and humane society where all animals are treated with dignity and respect. We urge the authorities and stakeholders to prioritize the welfare of stray dogs and work towards implementing sustainable solutions to alleviate their suffering.
