SAVE STEVENSON RANCH LA FITNESS—STOP THE CLUB STUDIO CONVERSION AND PROTECT AFFORDABLE FITNESS

We are asking Fitness International, the parent company of LA Fitness and Club Studio, to stop the planned conversion of the LA Fitness at 24945 Pico Canyon Road in Stevenson Ranch into Club Studio and keep this location operating as an affordable, accessible LA Fitness.

This decision affects the people who have made this gym part of their everyday lives: members who exercise before work, parents fitting a workout between responsibilities, older adults staying active, and neighbors who depend on a convenient place to maintain their health.

Closing this location for an entire year, displacing its members, and potentially replacing their affordable memberships with a premium-priced alternative is unacceptable.

Our community deserves a meaningful voice in the future of a gym it has supported.

A neighborhood gym serves a real community need.

Consistency matters when it comes to exercise. Having a gym nearby, at a price that fits your budget, can make the difference between maintaining a healthy routine and struggling to keep one.

For someone working long hours, proximity makes a workout possible. For a parent, a familiar location helps make a busy schedule manageable. For someone on a fixed income, an affordable membership may be an expense they have carefully planned around.

Converting this location into a premium fitness brand raises a serious concern: will the people who currently rely on this gym still be able to afford and use it?

If continued access requires a substantially more expensive membership, existing members could face an unfair choice: stretch an already limited budget, travel to another gym, or give up a routine that supports their well-being.

An upgraded building provides little benefit to an existing member who can no longer afford to walk through its doors.

Closing this location for an entire year is unacceptable.

A yearlong closure is a major disruption. Expecting members to spend that time driving farther, rearranging their schedules, or paying for a different membership places the burden of this conversion on the people who use the gym.

Members have built routines around this location. Their workout times fit around jobs, school schedules, childcare, transportation, and other commitments. A prolonged closure could make those routines difficult—or impossible—to maintain.

Members would face a full year without their neighborhood gym, followed by uncertainty about whether they could afford to return when it reopens.

A promise of a different facility in the future does not address the immediate loss of access. Fitness International should take that disruption seriously and consider improvements that preserve the location’s affordability and minimize interruptions.

The people who support this gym today should remain a priority throughout any changes to its future.

Nearby locations cannot simply be assumed to absorb everyone.

Redirecting Stevenson Ranch members to surrounding LA Fitness clubs would increase demand for equipment, classes, parking, and shared facilities. Without sufficient additional capacity, this risks overcrowding nearby locations—especially during already-busy peak hours.

That could mean longer waits for machines, fuller classes, crowded workout areas, and less convenient access to the amenities members pay to use.

The impact would extend beyond Stevenson Ranch. Members who already use nearby clubs could also experience a decline in the availability and quality of their workouts.

Simply pointing displaced members toward another address does not demonstrate that those facilities can comfortably accommodate them. Before proceeding, Fitness International should explain how it would prevent overcrowding and maintain service for both displaced members and existing members at surrounding clubs.

Distance and convenience matter.

Another LA Fitness location does not necessarily meet the same need.

Additional driving means additional time and transportation costs. Members may also need to find different classes and rebuild their routines around unfamiliar schedules.

For someone with a limited window to exercise, that extra travel can determine whether a workout happens at all.

Access means having a gym you can realistically reach, afford, and use.

Existing members deserve a meaningful voice.

Members have supported this location through their membership payments and continued attendance. Their concerns deserve direct consideration before the gym they use is replaced with a different business model.

A premium club may appeal to some customers. That does not resolve the needs of existing members who chose LA Fitness because its location, services, and price worked for them.

Members deserve clear answers about the plans for this location, the length of any closure, and what would happen to their memberships, rates, services, and access. They also deserve an opportunity to be heard while their input can still influence the outcome.

We are asking Fitness International to:

Stop the planned Club Studio conversion and keep the Stevenson Ranch location operating as an LA Fitness.
Reconsider the yearlong closure and pursue improvements that minimize disruption and preserve convenient access for the community.
Protect affordable membership options and existing members’ access, including honoring their current agreements.
Address the risk of overcrowding at nearby clubs, with a clear explanation of available capacity and how service would be maintained before redirecting members.
Meet with affected members and community representatives to hear directly how the closure and conversion would affect them.
Provide a clear, written response addressing these concerns before proceeding with a closure or further conversion work.
The future of this gym matters to the people who use it.

We understand that operating a fitness facility involves business decisions. We are asking Fitness International to give meaningful weight to member loyalty, affordability, convenience, and the long-term relationship it has built with this community.

Keeping this location as an LA Fitness would demonstrate that the company values the members who already support it and wants them to remain part of its future.

Keep LA Fitness in Stevenson Ranch. Keep it affordable. Keep our community moving.

Please sign this petition and share it with fellow members, neighbors, friends, and family.

If you use this location—or a nearby LA Fitness that could be affected—please leave a comment explaining how a yearlong closure, potential overcrowding, or the loss of affordable access would affect you.

Every signature adds to our collective request. Every personal story helps explain why this decision deserves reconsideration.
