Save Starving Kitties in Houston! Help!
The Issue
This colony of beloved community cats in Tanglewood area of Houston including tiny kittens, pictured here, is being starved to death due to deliberate action of officials at BARC , the city of Houston animal management agency, which recently and suddenly revoked the protected TNR* colony status of these helpless animals, some of whom have been at this colony location for more than 6 years, now classified as stray animals; animal enforcement officers has declared that anyone who feeds them "does so at their own peril!"
Regarding community cats the ASPCA* has commented "For those cats who have become dependent on food provided by a caregiver, such a feeding ban is inhumane, since it forces cats to subsist on insufficient resources."
Phone calls from concerned citizens in the area as well as from an attorney hired at personal expense of the former colony manager have not been returned by BARC staff.
We want BARC to immediately restore the protected status of this cat colony, which has not been fed for more than two weeks now! Please add your signature to this petition for tiny kitties and small kittens and other members of the community cat colony (including nursing kittens and their Mother) so that the agony of their inflicted starvation can finally end!
