Save the New Stargate Series: Chevron 7 Locked!
Amazon MGM, Prime Video, and MGM Leadership: Reconsider the new Stargate series, or let the gate open somewhere else.
Petition created by and for the longtime Stargate faithful

Target: Amazon MGM Studios, Prime Video Executives, Global Head of Television Peter Friedlander, and MGM Leadership

Goal: 50,000 signatures

SG-2026 team — "You Have a Go." The mission is simple.
Amazon MGM reportedly chose not to move forward with the newly developed live-action Stargate series from Martin Gero, despite years of development, a completed writers’ room, and involvement from longtime Stargate creatives.

We are asking Amazon MGM to do one of two things:

1. Reconsider immediately and greenlight the Martin Gero-led Stargate series for Prime Video.

2. If Amazon will not proceed, release or license the Stargate television rights so the original creative team can partner with another studio or platform committed to making it happen.

The scripts are ready.

The team is ready.

The fans are ready.

Chevron 7 is locked. Let’s open the gate.

SG fans, report to the gate room.
We are the fans who dialed the gate through SG-1’s ten seasons of “Indeed!”-worthy heroics, Atlantis’s found-family adventures, Universe’s desperate hope among the stars, the original movie’s wormhole wonder, and every late-night rewatch that still gives us chills.

We have faced down Goa'uld System Lords, Wraith, Replicators, false gods, impossible odds, and more than a few premature endings.

And we have always come out the other side stronger. Stargate is not just another science fiction franchise.

It is a story about exploration, courage, loyalty, humor, sacrifice, found family, and the belief that humanity is at its best when it steps through the unknown together.

We were so close.
In November 2025, fans were thrilled when Amazon MGM Studios greenlit a brand-new live-action Stargate series under veteran showrunner Martin Gero, with consulting producers Brad Wright and Joseph Mallozzi, plus input from original creative voices including Roland Emmerich and Dean Devlin.

The writers’ room was complete.

Filming was reportedly set to begin this fall in the UK.

Most importantly, the series was designed to do what fans have been hoping for: welcome new viewers while honoring the canon longtime fans love.

That is exactly the “best of both worlds” Stargate has needed for years.

A fresh entry point. A respect for continuity. A creative team that understands the heart of the franchise.

Then, on June 2, 2026, the iris slammed shut. Amazon decided not to move forward.

But this mission is not over.
Executive Producer and longtime Stargate veteran Joseph Mallozzi shared this heartbreaking message with fans hours after the news was reported:

“Creator Martin Gero developed a new Stargate series over two years, ultimately crafting a show that offered a fresh jumping-on point for new viewers while deeply respecting existing canon. It was a series that avoided the pitfalls of several modern remakes and reboots by fully embracing the core of its predecessors: action, adventure, exploration, wonder, heart, humor, and found family. [...] My heart breaks. For the incredibly talented writers who worked tirelessly to bring this show to life. For Martin who maintained an unwavering positive outlook throughout despite the challenges, and who always strove to make a show that would honor the fans while welcoming new audiences. And for the long-suffering Stargate fandom who waited so long and came so close to getting a show they truly would have loved.”

Full statement:

Mallozzi also explained the exact creative challenge this team was built to solve:

“Yes. The challenge is to create a show that offers the best of both worlds — a perfect jumping-on point for new viewers who know nothing about Stargate that still rewards longtime fans by remaining true to the spirit of the original.”

That is the show fans have been asking for.

Not a lazy reboot. Not a hollow remake. Not a version that ignores the soul of what came before.

A Stargate series made by people who understand why Stargate matters.

Why this deserves reconsideration.
Stargate is not a dead brand.

It is an underused franchise with decades of built-in goodwill, multiple completed series, a passionate global fanbase, and a concept built perfectly for modern streaming.

It has everything a major platform should want:

A proven universe.
Multiple beloved series, a feature film foundation, and years of worldbuilding.

A loyal global audience.
Fans who have kept showing up through rewatches, conventions, podcasts, social media, fan campaigns, and word-of-mouth for more than a decade.

A clean entry point for new viewers.
The new series was designed to welcome people who know nothing about Stargate while still rewarding longtime fans.

A flexible storytelling engine.
Every gate address can lead to a new world, a new culture, a new threat, a new ally, or a new mystery.

A tone audiences still want.
Action, adventure, wonder, humor, heart, exploration, teamwork, and found family.

This is not just nostalgia.

This is franchise value sitting on the table.

Amazon owns the rights.
That means the people who know Stargate best cannot simply take this series elsewhere.

Without action, this could leave Stargate dormant again despite years of development, a ready creative team, and clear fan demand.

That is why fans are speaking up now.

Stargate taught us what this moment requires:

Hope. Courage. Exploration. Loyalty. Found family.

And sometimes, we just need to hear General Hammond’s voice in our heads and charge forward: “You have a go!”

Our clear orders from Stargate Command:

1. Reconsider and greenlight the Martin Gero-led Stargate series for Prime Video.
The work has already been done.

  • The creative team has already built the foundation.
  • The fans have waited long enough.
  • Give Stargate the chance it deserves.

2. If Amazon will not proceed, release or license the Stargate television rights.

  • Let Martin Gero, Brad Wright, Joseph Mallozzi, and the broader creative team partner with another studio or platform that is ready to make this series happen.
  • Do not let Stargate sit locked behind the iris.
  • Open the iris, or let someone else dial the address.

We are not asking for charity.
We are promising actionable support.

We will stream every episode on day one, faster than Teal’c can say “Indeed.”

We will buy merch.

We will attend events.

We will drive word-of-mouth.

We will bring new fans through the gate.

We will prove the audience is here.

Not just the core fans.

Not just the people who watched live years ago.

But the millions who grew up with Stargate, the fans who never left, and the new generations discovering it every day on streaming.

This is our mission briefing.
