Save St Cuthbert with St Matthias Primary School from Unjust Closure
The Issue
Our vibrant, beloved St Cuthbert with St Matthias Primary School is at risk of closure due to low pupil numbers. The children love their school. The teachers, who consistently make great strides in our children's education, love teaching there. The community is united behind this institution that embodies the spirit of our neighbourhood. It has a historical place at the heart of Earls Court dating back over 150 years.
The proposed closure of the school doesn't just affect the pupil body, but has a cascading repercussion on these children's future. By thrusting them into new learning environments, we risk disrupting their behavioral, psychological, and emotional development, not to mention their academic journey.
However, we believe that closure is not the only solution to low pupil numbers. We believe the local authority has made it’s closure a foregone conclusion. Alternatives such as cooperative arrangements with other local schools, or implementing innovative learning strategies to attract more families, are potential resolutions that deserve exploration.
We are, therefore, calling on the relevant authorities to reconsider the proposed closure and to adequately explore and assess potential alternative solutions. These alternatives can save our school while preserving the well-being of our children.
Help us protect our school and the future of our children. Sign this petition and let your voice be heard.
