Save Spangler Farm from High Density Development

The Issue

Spangler Farm near Signal Mountain, TN is a 106 acre farm on the Cumberland Plateau that has rolling pastures, forest, multiple ponds, and a beautiful historic farmstead. This land has deep ties to the community and the neighboring residents.

The farm is adjacent to many surrounding rural properties and just 1/3 mile away from the North Chickamauga Creek Gorge, a 7,000+ acre TN State Natural Area, a gem of Chattanooga celebrated by all.

Against all warning, it is being considered for high density development with the addition of 185-212 homes. This development undermines the septic runoff potential for downhill surrounding residents and North Chickamauga Creek, poor condition of the mountain roads, school system overcrowding, first responder response time, and maybe the most obvious: the natural beauty and habitat the farm offers the community.

This proposal is like every other modern housing development, maximum density for highest return on investment. Please sign this petition to encourage the developer (Thousand Hills Co.) and the Planning Commission to stop the development and at minimum demand lower density housing. The community can not handle this, and it's simply the right thing to do.
