Our petition continues to explode! It has received more than 2,800+ signatures and is still growing rapidly.
We are sending a strong message to Quint Studer and the rest of the Beloit Snappers organization that we DO NOT WANT the Beloit Snappers name to change to one of the five proposed options which have been unanimously ridiculed and mocked by our community, fans and local media.
If you are willing to share this petition on your social networks, we would sincerely appreciate it. Let's keep our foot on the gas!
The misleading "70% of fans wanted a name change" talking point
One of Mr. Studer's main talking points is that 70% of Snappers fans wanted a new name based on a survey they did through the team's website. One of the many problems we find with this survey is that fans were a bit mislead. The survey was somewhat confusing and framed as more or less of a silly naming contest - not a referendum on whether or not the Snappers should keep their beloved team name. We believe that if a transparent, head-to-head fan vote took place today against any of the proposed team names, it would result in overwhelming support to preserve the Snappers team name.
As a fan base, we feel that we deserve this vote. We have been supporting this team for nearly 40 years, often on cold, 40 degree nights in a glorified high school stadium. We've been patient and loyal. Now is the time for us to come together. We don't want to be bullied by out-of-towners & fancy branding agencies who think they know the Stateline better than us.
In the news
I got a chance to tell our story on The Steve Shannon Show this morning on 97ZOK. Mr. Shannon has been a huge supporter of our cause and has written two excellent (and funny) pieces on the subject that you can read here and here.
I also was lucky enough to speak with Tom Miller of the Janesville Gazette. We had a great conversation and Mr. Miller will be publishing a piece on Monday, September 21st.
Tomorrow I will be conducting a Zoom interview with Karley Marotta of WKOW (Madison) and I really look forward to that conversation. The feature will air tomorrow night hopefully.
Next week, on Monday, September 21st at 4:15 PM CST, I will be speaking with WCLO's Stan Milam in a 15-minute interview. I look forward to telling our story.
As always, thank you for continued support. And please consider sharing this petition on your social networks!
Thank you.
