BREAKING:
Sloth Encounters' October 6th hearing has been adjourned until October 27th.
"Holding sloths captive within the town of Islip is illegal, as is disobeying a Supreme Court order. However, with more than 50 federal violations on his record, Larry Wallach is no stranger to breaking the law," says Bonnie Klapper, Esq., "Humane Long Island is urging Islip to take Sloth Encounters back to court for contempt and the USDA to revoke Wallach's license to harass and exploit these animals for a buck."

Thank to your support, we've had amazing progress, temporarily shutting down Sloth Encounter since September 15th thanks to a Temporary Restraining Order ("TRO") filed by the Town of Islip and granted by the Hon. Joseph A. Santorelli.
Wallach has since aggressively marketed "home visits" with the sloths and has been documented hauling baby sloths to residential neighborhoods within Islip in violation of the TRO. Documentation also reveals that he has not removed the sloths from 551 Veterans Memorial Highway, Hauppauge, NY – a former pool store not zoned for animal exhibition – as instructed by the court. A former federal prosecutor and attorney for Humane Long Island has sent a letter with evidence of these violations to the Islip town attorney and urged him to pursue contempt proceedings against Sloth Encounters for these blatant violations.
Join us tomorrow, Thursday, October 6th, at 9:30am at Suffolk County Supreme Court, 1 Court St., Riverhead, NY 11901 to support the sloths silently in the courtroom as the Hon. Joseph A. Santorelli hears arguments regarding a permanent injunction to shut down Sloth Encounters permanently.
