An open letter from Preserve Historic La Porte and Indiana Landmarks to the La Porte Community School Corporation was published in the January 18 edition of the Herald-Dispatch. This in response to a repeated refusal by the School Board to accept our offer to commission a professional architect's study to determine the feasibility of upgrading and preserving Kiwanis Field. Since then, we've had discussions with representatives of the Board and are hopeful that we can reach a compromise that would allow us to move forward with the study and an application for National Register Listing-- which would make grant moneys available for renovation.
